We're excited to share an in-depth review of our 45mm Titanium-Coated Rotary Blades by Lisa Lund from Chattah Valley Quilts. Lisa put these blades through their paces, testing them on an impressive variety of materials to demonstrate their versatility and durability.
In her thorough review, Lisa tests the blades on multiple layers of different fabrics and materials that crafters commonly work with. From basic quilting cotton to specialty materials, the results showcase the blade's exceptional cutting ability:
The blades effortlessly slice through eight layers of quilter's cotton, maintaining precision without requiring excessive pressure. For heavier materials like denim and outdoor Sunbrella fabric, the blades cleanly cut through multiple layers while retaining their sharpness.
What particularly stands out is the blade's performance on traditionally challenging materials. Lisa demonstrates clean cuts through Sherpa, leather, and even eight layers of delicate lace. The blade handles faux fur and burlap with equal precision, producing crisp edges without snagging or tearing.
Perhaps most impressively, the blade maintains its sharpness throughout the testing process. After cutting through various tough materials – including glitter cardstock and even balsa wood – the blade still produces perfect cuts on quilter's cotton, demonstrating its exceptional durability.
For quilters specifically, Lisa tests the blade's performance on a complete quilt sandwich, showing how it easily squares up quilted edges – a task that often proves challenging with standard blades.
